Sequoia National Park Glass Ornament, 4 1/4", OWC # 36176
Authorized Sequoia National Park Sign Christmas Ornament, 4 1/4 inches, from the Merck Family's Old World Christmas Glass Ornaments collection. OWC 36176. (2016 New Release)
This United States National Parks Service (NPS) glass ornament depicts the Ash Mountain entrance to the Sequoia park, located in California. It includes an indiean head and "Sequoiia National Park" in white print, giving an etched appearance. THE BACK is the same but without words. The real sign is made of Sequoia tree parts held together with wrought iron and the arrow side carved in the shape of an Indian head. Oddly this is of the few park signs that does not include the National Park Service logo.
The Sequoia park is known for its giant Sequoia trees, including the General Sherman Tree, the largest living tree in the world plus Mount Whitney, the tallest point in the lower 48 states (statistics per the NPS website). It makes a great gift idea to remember a special vacation to the great outdoors where the trees are too big to hug. This nicely detailed ornament is made of blown glass, delicately hand-painted and has sparkling glitter accents.
